Balloon flight Southampton

Southampton used to be the location for a major hot air balloon festival at the end of July each year. We had been attending the The Southampton Balloon and Flower Festival since the mid 90's. But with the expansion of the local Airfield this became less viable and 2004 was the last year the event took place.

These days to fly in a hot air balloon in this area you need to travel out of their controlled air space either up the M3 and down the A272 to Cheriton or along the M27 and up the A3 to Petersfield.

As the New Forest is a no fly zone for hot air balloons the alternative is to travel a long way West.
